The Mizel Museum has partnered with Aurora Public Schools (APS) to bring At the Table with Dr. King to APS students. At the Table is multimedia program, incorporating poetry and live music to call students to action and service in their communities. Middle and high school students will be immersed in the sights and sounds of the American Civil Rights Movement, focusing on a defining moment in the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when he rose above his circumstances and responded to “his call”. The hour-long program features talented musicians, vocalists and a spoken word artist.
Not only will Aurora students attend the program; they will also participate in the planning, including marketing, production, set design and more. Performance dates are January 21, 22 and 23. Email Deanne Kapnik (info above) for times and more information.
Special thanks to the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) for scholarship assistance.
