The Mizel Museum presents Encaustic Painting and Personal Expression with Deborah Howard Two Day Workshop at the Mizel Museum Sunday, June 27 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday, June 28 9:00 am - 12:30 pm $175 | Materials fee: encaustic paint, supplies & equipment, $60 Encaustic is an ancient Egyptian painting medium using molten wax mixed with colored pigments. This medium will be demonstrated and the process introduced through hands-on application of encaustic painting medium and photo transfers. Participants will use photo copies in this work. CALL FOR OBJECTS The Mizel Museum is seeking objects, artifacts and contemporary artwork for its new, permanent exhibition, 4,000 Year Road Trip: Gathering Sparks, slated for opening Fall 2010. Mizel Museum curator, Georgina Kolber, is searching for privately owned Jewish objects, Jewish artifacts and or contemporary Jewish artwork to enhance an exciting new exhibition about Jewish life and culture that will bring cultural awareness to local citizens and visitors. The museum is particularly interested in ritual objects about Torah stories, haggadot or sidurrim of unusual derivation, Jewish pioneer pieces and unique objects that tell the story of the Diaspora.
