BRIDGES OF UNDERSTANDING
Bridges of Understanding is composed of three separate exhibitions, available for scheduled tours at The Mizel Museum, or they will travel to your school.

Through studies of common and unique themes, connect with different cultures and learn to “walk in another’s shoes.— This lively, interactive exhibition introduces the Jewish, Asian Pacific, Native American, Hispanic/Latino, African/African-American and Muslim cultures. Participants enjoy hands-on activities, video, music and art projects.

CEREMONIES AND FESTIVALS
Experience a one to two-hour interactive multicultural program journeying through six cultures celebrating special events, holidays and traditions. Customized programs available daily. RITES OF PASSAGE
Through the circle of life, this one or two-hour multicultural program addresses mankind’s universal experiences of life cycle events. NEW Tikkun Olam: Repairing the World
A Collaborative Art Project Promoting Intercultural Respect and Awareness
This exhibition features 12 seven-foot, fivepaneled columns upon which 54 participants from 27 countries offer their inspired visions of Tikkun Olam. In pictures, poems and songs, their messages represent universal values of social justice, compassion, freedom, equality and peace. Each participant’s interpretation of Tikkun Olam is conveyed through sight and sound, offering the viewer a multi-dimensional and compelling art experience.
Docent lead tours available upon request. Teacher curriculum available. Mystical Masks of Many Cultures
Masks reveal ancestral heritage, healing and celebrations of life. Examine how masks are made, try them on and create your own. Dia de Los Muertos Theater
Expand your cultural horizons as State Folklorist Rita Wallace explores the life affirming messages of remembrance of the Hispanic Dia de los Muertos, (Day of the Dead) celebration. The program culminates with the making of traditional sugar skulls and/or large vibrant paper flowers.

Decorative Arts of Mexico
Join State Folklorist Rita Wallace in creating colorful decorative arts of Mexico including your choice of a Mexican tree of life, a glass flower, a cloth doll or a guachichil loom. Accompanied by festive music and cultural dance.

The Art of Henna
