Mom’s Time Out!
Ready for a full week to yourself? Moms of both preschoolers and school age children take time for yourself, and sign up your preschoolers at Rodef Shalom Preschool while your older children enjoy Mizel Museum CampM! Located next door to the museum at 450 South Kearney, call 303-256-1061.


Israel Explorers Pre-School Camp
May 27 – 30
Ages 4 – 6 (all campers must be four years old by beginning of camp)
4 Half Day Sessions • 9:00 am - Noon • $80
4 Full Day Sessions • 9:00 am - 3:30 pm • $150
Learn Hebrew vocabulary with your Israeli guide as you are taken on an adventurous trip through Israel. Use your imagination to travel from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv to Eilat. Learn Israeli songs, create art, sample Israeli foods and cool off with a “day at the beach.” Receive a CD of songs to remember your trip. Teacher: Neta Hermoni

From the mysterious and exotic creatures of the sea and desert to everyday pets, you’ll have fun learning about the wonderful world of Israeli animals through arts and crafts, stories, cooking and songs. Learn about a “dog” that is actually a fish and Hebrew names for animals. Teacher: Yael Setty.

Passport to Israel
July 28 – August 1
Ages 6 - 8 • 9:00 am - 3:30 pm • $185
All aboard…with stops in Tel Aviv, Eilat, Tiberius, Haifa and a mud bath at the Dead Sea! Stamp your passport as you explore a different Israeli city daily. Geography will help you create your own Israeli map. Your journey will include arts and crafts, music, acting, Israeli snacks and a sampling of Hebrew. Teacher: Neta Hermoni.

Animal Symbols in Sculpture

Campers will enjoy hands-on experiences as they learn about several different groups of immigrants and their unique experiences in the Westward Expansion. The customs, traditions, and crafts of the African American, Hispanic, Jewish, and Chinese pioneers will bring history to life for your child. Children will experience a simpler way of life as they learn and play as Colorado children did in the late 1800s. This is a non-biased culture-based curriculum.

Tempt your taste buds along the way as you prepare delicious delicacies from each culture you visit. We will prepare samosas from India, Native American grape dumplings, agua-frescas from South America, vegetable tempura and spring rolls from China and more. Bring your appetite and be ready to cook! Session 2: August 4 – 8
Ages 6 - 12 • 12:00 am - 3:30 pm • $115
Take a journey around the globe to celebrate ceremonies and festivals of six different cultures. Tempt your taste buds along the way as you prepare delicious delicacies from each culture you visit. We will prepare Chinese fortune cookies, Native American corn pudding, and Israeli salad in pita bread, Hispanic empanadas and many other dishes. Save your appetite! Petit Picassos will have the experience of creating art, learning about artists, and understanding how and why art is made. Young artists will stretch their skills and imagination in this hands-on introduction to an array of real artists’ materials and techniques and be inspired by Miro, VanGogh, Hundertwasser, O’Keefe, Warhol and more. Big, Bright & Bold Sculpture Camp
July 7 - 11
Ages 8 - 12 • 9:00 am -3:30 pm • $185
Put on your creativity cap, let go and get messy as you explore color, shape and texture, giving birth to wild outdoor sculptural creations for display at the Mizel Museum. Start your creative juices flowing as we improvise with everyday objects and create short multicultural skits. This is a great exercise in creativity, acting and even directing! Now in its 21st year, this non-profit youth basketball camp is teaming up with the Mizel Museum to offer a fun, fast-paced camp. Campers will learn fundamentals working on shooting, passing and dribbling plus drills and practice. Coach–to-camper ratio is one coach to every eight campers. Each camper receives a camp T-shirt and will win at least one prize from our prize closet! Lunch and open rec supervision from noon-1:00 pm is $25 • Bring your own sack lunch

Bring your hommies and join in a celebration of street art. We’ll explore the Get Along Avenue by expressing ourselves through cultural paint jamming, graffiti on wood, way cool tee shirts and visors, stickers, posters and more. Parents check out our art and be amused by our original gettin’ along rap and hip-hop dance performed on the last afternoon of camp. back to top

Faces of the World Mask Camp

Explore cultures believing in the mystical and healing powers of the mask with artist Holly Wasinger. You will transform yourself as you try on masks from around the world. Using a variety of materials, create masks worn for an African Harvest festival, the Japanese theatre, a Native American secret society and a colorful Mardi Gras parade. Teacher: Holly Wasinger. Journey from the ancient past to present times exploring the fascinating history and modern meanings of multicultural body art and design. Using color and pattern, create magnificent masks and elegant jewelry. Discover the origin of makeup and tattoos. Experience the magic of Mehndi, mix henna paste and create your own “temporary” body designs. Enjoy this and more as we use art to enjoy traditions of beauty around the world! Life on a String Puppet Camp

From Chinese fire-breathing dragons with mouths that actually open and close, moveable Indonesian shadow puppets to creating miniature puppets worn only on your fingers, this camp will enhance your creativity and dramatic skills. The Artist’s Way

Learn to see from your mind’s eye as you meet famous artists in their creative worlds. Be introduced to Chagall’s stories told in colored light, create Agam’s moving hues and shapes, make a Modigliani sculpture from vegetables, observe Hundertwasser’s whimsical designs and invent your own.
