JEWISH HOLIDAYS

On Hanukkah, Jews light candles for the eight days in a “menorah” or a “hanukkah.”
  Hanukkah
“Hanukkah dedication,” is also referred to as “The Festival of Lights.” It commemorates the victory of the Maccabees over the Hellenistic Syrians in a revolt that took place around 165 BCE. Once the Temple Mount in Jerusalem had been reclaimed, the Temple had to be rededicated. According to legend, only one jar of sacramental oil was found, enough for one day. Miraculously, the oil burned for eight days.Children play a game with a dreidel, a four-sided top. On each side is a different Hebrew letter corresponding to Hebrew words which mean, a great miracle happened here/there, (in Israel/outside of Israel).
